Elizabeth Davis

MFA, MS, ATR-BC, LCAT

Elizabeth is an Integrative Therapist with over 25 years’ working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.  With a master’s in fine art photography, Elizabeth began her journey in the art world where her creative focus was psychological portraiture: exploring the discord between inner mental states and outer realities of oppression, limitation, and disconnection.  After a decade living as an artist and photographer, Elizabeth went back to school for creative arts therapy. Elizabeth found her home in the field, combing her love of art, psychological inquiry, and helping others find their creative voices to heal from difficult experiences.

Elizabeth has worked in a variety of settings and with clients of all ages from three years to the elderly.  She has over two decades of experience working with at risk youth and adults with complex trauma, dissociation, and attachment insecurity.   Her previous training includes: EMDR Therapy (Elizabeth is certified, a consultant, and a trainer for Trauma Institute and Child Trauma Institute), Internal Family Systems (IFS Level 2), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Progressive Counting, hypnosis, attachment focused therapy, (trained to administer and score the Adult Attachment Interview, AAI), art therapy, (registered and board-certified art therapist), mindfulness (MBSR), and play therapy.

Elizabeth has conducted dozens of workshops, presentations, and talks, including at the EMDR International Association Annual Conference (Emdria), and International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), and the American Art therapy Association (AATA).  Elizabeth also trains ongoing, through Trauma Institute and Child Trauma Institute, multiday trainings: Integrating Creative Art Therapies and EMDR with Complex Clients, Attachment and Dissociation Assessment and Treatment: An Introduction to Foundational Skills and EMDR, the complete course including consultation.  Elizabeth now serves as Director of two New York State satellites of Trauma Institute, (Buffalo and in the Hudson Valley) and is Supervisor of Intake for Trauma Institute and Child Trauma Institute in addition to specializing in Intensive Trauma Therapy with clients.
