Peggy Kolodny

MA ATR-BC LCPAT

Peggy Kolodny MA ATR-BC LCPAT, is a Board Certified, Registered and Licensed Art Psychotherapist with level 2 certificates in EMDR and in Internal Family Systems (IFS). Founder of the private practice Art Therapy Collective of Owings Mills, she has specialized in trauma treatment across the life span for 40 years. She is an approved Art Therapy Supervisor in Maryland. Peggy is adjunct faculty with George Washington University’s Art Therapy Graduate Program as well as multiple professional training faculties (Chesapeake Beach Play Therapy Seminars; The Ferentz Institute; and The Expressive Therapies Summits). She presents workshops nationally and internationally.


Currently, she is on the Board of the Maryland Art Therapy Association and is their current delegate to the American Art Therapy Association. Her presentation on IFS and Art Therapy is part of AATA’s online Continuing Education. She has presented on IFS and creative interventions to the IFS International conference. Peggy is the current chair of the Creative Arts Therapies Special Interest Group, part of the International Society on the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD).


Past faculties include University of Maryland School of Social Work, Goucher College, and Maryland Institute, College of Art. Recent publications include a chapter entitled “The Interweave of IFS, EMDR, and Art Therapy, co-authored with Salicia Mazero in EMDR and Creative Arts Therapies”(Davis, Fitzgerald, Jacobs and Marchand, 2022) as well as 2 chapters on trauma, neuroscience, substance use, and art therapy in Art Therapy in the Treatment of Addictions and Trauma (Quinn, 2021).


Past leadership positions include Chair of the Central Maryland Sex Abuse Treatment Task Force, Vice-chair of APSAC Maryland (American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children), Director of a nonprofit The Family Connection, and President of Maryland Art Therapy Association.
